Terminator is a science fiction/action film that will keep you on the edge of your seat and has parts that will scare you. I really liked the Terminator fimls/series and it is a must see for anyone who likes science fiction/action films. It is a fun movie to watch with friends because of the previously mentioned scary scenes in it. I was glad to see the new release in the Terminator series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is still airing here by us and there is still alot to watch. I am glad that they kept the standards they set in the previous Terminator movies and improved on them. The new series will grab you from the beginning and will keep you glued to the screen. I can’t wait for the next episode and to see how this story unfolds and how it all ends. May they bring out many more terminator movies for years to come as the terminator movies are well written and great to watch. Here is some background infomration on the terminator films.
The Terminator
In 2029, machines control the world and are bent on the extermination of humans. To this end, the machines send back someone from the future to May 12, 1984. This mysterious musclebound man obtains weapons and begins hunting down anyone listed as “Sarah Connor” in the phone book, successfully killing two of the three listed. Terminators were invented by Skynet, a form of artificial intelligence created by Cyberdyne Systems. In the near future Skynet gains self-awareness, takes over all military hardware, and initiates a nuclear war against humanity. John Connor, Sarah’s son, leads a human resistance against the machines. In a last-ditch effort, Skynet sent a Terminator back in time to kill Sarah before John is born, preventing the resistance from ever being founded, allowing the machines to win by default. The end of the film shows Sarah traveling in Mexico, several months pregnant. She records audio tapes which she intends to play for her son, John, at some point in his life. She reveals that John is Reese’s son, conceived during their one night at the motel. While Sarah’s gas tank is being filled, a young Mexican boy takes a picture of her, the same picture John will give to Reese in the future. Then Sarah pulls out of the gas station and drives into the distance where storms are approaching over the mountains. The end credits start to roll as her jeep disappears.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Over ten years after Sarah Connor destroyed the original Terminator that was programmed to kill her, two men arrive in Los Angeles from the year 2029. The first is a Terminator identical to the one that Sarah first encountered, while the second is an unknown man. When John learns that the T-1000 will copy Sarah and then kill her, he and the Terminator go to rescue her. Initially, Sarah is terrified by the Terminator, but after seeing it fight off the T-1000, she accepts that they need its help. As they escape the city, the Terminator tells her about the future of Skynet, the sentient computer that will destroy humans. Sarah, John, the Terminator, and Dyson break into the Cyberdyne Systems building and retrieve the parts from the first Terminator. While preparing explosives to destroy all of Dyson’s research, security alerts the police who show up in force. When the SWAT team enters the building, they fatally shoot Dyson who stays behind to trigger the detonator. After John throws the parts from the first Terminator into the molten metal, the Terminator tells him that he too must be destroyed to prevent his technology from being used to create Skynet. He tells Sarah that he cannot self-terminate, and she must lower him into the steel. John tearfully begs the Terminator not to leave, but the Terminator insists it must be done. He tells John that he knows now why he cries, implying that he has indeed gained some understanding of human feelings. As he goes down, he gives a thumbs up, the last thing to go under. The movie ends with a dark highway at night and Sarah’s repetition of the phrase that Reese told her in the first film: “The future is not set.”
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Because of the events shown in the second film, Judgment Day did not occur as originally predicted. However, John Connor still doesn’t believe the future war has been totally averted. He is living “off-the-grid,” in Los Angeles, California with no permanent residence, credit cards, or mobile phone, and is working freelance so he can’t be tracked. Skynet sends another Terminator, the T-X, back to July 24, 2004, Judgment Day, to kill the human resistance’s future lieutenants, because Connor could not be located through any information databases. The T-X, later dubbed the “Terminatrix”, is armed with a full arsenal of advanced weapons from the future, avoiding the restriction of non-living tissue by carrying them internally, including the ability to remotely control most machines. After the destruction of Cyberdyne Systems in T2, the Air Force has taken over the Skynet project as part of its Cyber Research Systems division, headed by General Robert Brewster, Kate’s father. In an attempt to stop the spread of a computer supervirus, they activate Skynet, allowing it to invade all of their systems. John, Kate, and the Terminator arrive just a few minutes too late to stop them. John and Kate discover that the base does not house the Skynet core. It is a Cold War era fallout shelter for government VIPs. General Brewster sent them there to protect them. Skynet launches nuclear missiles, starting the war of human versus machine. Foreshadowing Connor’s future leadership role, when the confused military forces from Montana Civil Defense and amateur radio operators ask for orders, he picks up the radio and takes command.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
At the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah, John, and the Terminator successfully destroy the T-1000 and the arm and computer chip from the first Terminator. The Terminator, at its own request, is then destroyed in order to eliminate any future technology that could be used to create Skynet. Sarah and John, now wanted fugitives, must also face the reality that other enemies from the future could be after them. However, they were able to delay “Judgment Day” from 1997 to 2011. Prompted by the return of Terminators into their lives, Sarah and John decide to stop running, and focus on stopping the creation of Skynet. They are aided by Cameron, a Terminator who poses as a female student at John’s school, and whose mission is to protect John. Meanwhile, FBI Agent James Ellison pursues Sarah and John with the belief that Sarah is deranged. Enjoy the new terminator series The Sarah Connor Chronicles as i know i will.
